It's finally starting to get cold outside. I don't exactly enjoy cold weather, but I do enjoy snow, and it can't snow unless its cold outside. Today it was so cold that I went to clean my windshield at the gas station, and the blue stuff (which isn't supposed to freeze) , was frozen..... Now that's cold!

1:39 P.M. November 4, 2006

Well, Maybe it was 1:37. No one really got around to checking their watches right away, and his hospital room never had a clock.

I've never seen anybody die before. I also never knew that a persons last days could involve so many conversations about bowel movements. The funny thing is, not all of the bowel movements discussed were my Grandpa's. I'll have to thank my cousin Lauren for her awesome description of exactly what happens when she eats Chinese food. Yuck. I can't believe that my brother Jesse let one rip and then blamed it on the dying man. Especially when he was pretty much comatose and unable to defend himself.

We were all in his hospital room for a long time yesterday. Around midnight one of the nurses opened his door. She looked pretty suprised to see all those people camped out in his room. There were probably more than ten of us camped out on his floor. I'll have to think back and count...... It was at least 12. I guess that's not the norm in the ICU.

I can tell you that the floor at Mercy hospital is NOT a comfy place to sleep. The coffee there SUCKS! And there's one elevator that is more "fun" than the others. My sister and her friend spent most of the day riding up and down in that thing. Some of the doctors and nurses are jerks. Hey, just because you see people die every day doesn't mean you can be a complete ass! Some of the security guards are AWFUL! I think people in hospitals need sensitivity training. Everyone is someones family! Some of the staff are nice. One nurse cried.

I miss my Grandpa. He was the best that anyone ever had.

Well, at least he never had to go to the nursing home. Grandpa HATED that idea.

And thank you Keri. That would be nice. I think he'd like it.
